Description
The Fauststube restaurant in the Hotel zum Löwen in Staufen, was once home to the legendary Doctor Johann Georg Faustus, and today is a gourmet-restaurant. In the centre of the historical old part of town, the chef here welcomes his guests with a fine selection of regional specialities. To add a bit of variety, there is an ever-changing daily menu, seasonal offerings, and last, but not least, the ?Espuma-Menu?. Those who like something extraordinary can have a go themselves in the molecular-kitchen. To round off the culinary delicacies, you can try a specially selected wine from the wine cellar. When the weather is good, you can also take in the historical atmosphere of Steufen outside on the sun terrace. For those who need to work, the Hotel zum Löwen offers a W-LAN internet connection.

Loved our stay at Der Lowen in Staufen. A very well maintained, clean typical German feel hotel in the heart of Staufen. Very close to the train /bus station, making it easy to commute. Parking was also convenient. Staff was friendly and helped whenever needed. Only place to improve (hence I gave 4 stars): - We ate breakfast for 4 days. The meals were exactly the same. Anyone would get bored. Strongly suggest a slight variation in food. - Wifi could have been a little better.

This review is for their restaurant only. Centered in the town's little square, we found ourselves so quaintly situated observing the locals and the several weddings. Delicious food that is at least Michelin recommended. I ordered the chanterelles with those bread balls which is a special dish in the summer the the Black Forest region. I don't know where else in Germany that I would have been able to have such an authentically prepared dish like this. It sounds heavy with a cream sauce but it was so delicious and definitely lighter for me then piled on meat dishes. One of my favorite meals in Germany!
